BEIJING, China - China and Nepal signed several agreements on Monday. The agreements were signed during a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang at the Great Hall of the People. Dahal is on a week-long visit to the northern neighbor.
The secretaries of the relevant departments from both countries signed the agreements relating to various ministries.
The Chinese Commission and the Nepali Finance Ministry signed an agreement to cooperate on the growth of the digital economy.
Chinese officials also signed a contract to develop green and low-carbon energy with Nepal's Ministry of Forestry and Environment.
As part of their agreement to work together for the advancement of agriculture, livestock, and fisheries, the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China and Nepal have also agreed to cooperate. Chinese government representatives and Rewati Raman Poudel both signed the agreement.
The two neighbors also decided to establish a joint technical working committee to review and update the 1981 Nepal-China Trade and Payment Agreement during their meeting. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply of Nepal signed the agreement.
Similar agreements have been made regarding the translation and publication of ancient texts by the Chinese Department of Press and Publication and Nepal's Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.
The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology of Nepal and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China have agreed to work together on science, technology, and innovation projects.
Ambassador Shrestha and Chinese representatives also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on disaster management supplies, human resources, and the Hilsa-Simkot road project.
