BEIJING, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Here are the latest Chinese sports headlines from the past week:
1. Debutant Li Shifeng crowned at All England Badminton Open
China's Li Shifeng clinched the men's singles title in his first appearance at the All England Badminton Open after beating teammate Shi Yuqi 26-24, 21-5 in the final on Sunday.
"I definitely wanted to clinch the title, but I care more about trying my best and enjoying the game," Li said.
Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong added another gold for China in mixed doubles with a 21-16, 16-21, 21-12 win over South Korean pair Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jung.
China's Olympic champion Chen Yufei fell to South Korea's second seed An Se-young 21-17, 10-21, 21-19 in women's singles final to take a silver.
2. World No. 1s Sun, Fan crowned as China sweeps five titles at WTT Singapore Smash
Top-ranked Sun Yingsha beat compatriot Qian Tianyi 4-1 to win the women's singles title at WTT Singapore Smash on Sunday after she paired Wang Manyu and Wang Chunqin to claim women's doubles and mixed doubles gold medals.
"I'm very happy to win three titles in one tournament," said Sun. "When I played at a later stage, I felt good in terms of concentration and fitness, and hopefully, I will continue to work hard in the upcoming matches."
World No. 1 Fan Zhendong overcame his 34-year-old teammate Ma Long 4-1 to take the men's singles title after his men's doubles victory with Wang Chuqin.
3. Records shattered at Chinese national spring swimming championships
Qin Haiyang broke the men's 50m breaststroke Asian record with a result of 26.63 seconds in the event's preliminary and won the final later at the Chinese national spring swimming championships on Friday.
A day before, Wang Changhao broke the men's 50m butterfly national record twice in one day and set the new mark at 23.25 seconds to win the event.
The comeback of two-time Olympic champion Ye Shiwen and 36-year-old Wu Peng was also eye-catching, especially for Wu, who had been 10 years away from competitive swimming.
4. He Jie renews Chinese men's marathon national record
China's He Jie clocked two hours, seven minutes and 30 seconds to finish second in the men's race at the 2023 Wuxi Marathon on Sunday, improving the Chinese men's marathon national record by 46 seconds. Enock Onchari of Kenya crossed the line first 11 seconds faster.
China's Yang Shaohui finished third in 2:07:49 as he also beat the previous national record set by Ren Longyun back in 2007.
In the women's race, Chinese runner Bai Li clocked 2:26:33 to wrap up her convincing victory.
