PHNOM PENH -- The governors and mayors of capital cities of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Friday vowed to promote close partnership and comprehensive cooperation for the development of smart, resilient and sustainable cities in the region, according to a Phnom Penh Declaration.
The declaration was issued after the Meeting of Governors/Mayors of ASEAN Capitals 2022, which was convened in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh under the chairmanship of Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng. (Cambodia-ASEAN)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim unveiled his cabinet on Friday, naming two deputy prime ministers in an effort to better represent both halves of the country.
In a televised speech, Anwar said he himself will assume the finance minister's portfolio, a post which he previously held from 1991 to 1998. (Malaysia-Cabinet)

KABUL -- One person was killed and two others injured as a blast rocked a mosque near the office of the Hezb-e-Islami party associated with former Afghan Prime Minister Gulbuddin Hekmatyar in Kabul, local TV channel Tolo News TV reported Friday.
"Hekmatyar is unhurt," the TV channel quoted Obaidullah Bahir, one of the close relatives of Hekmatyar, as saying. Another anonymous source has told the TV channel that one of the bodyguards of the leader was killed and two others injured in the powerful blast. (Afghanistan-Blast,1ST LD)

DHAKA -- The World Bank has approved 250 million U.S. dollars in financing to help Bangladesh strengthen environmental management and promote private sector participation in green investment.
The Bangladesh Environmental Sustainability and Transformation (BEST) Project will support the Department of Environment to strengthen its technical and administrative capacity, the Washington-based lender said in a statement on Friday. (Bangladesh-Environmental Management)

KABUL -- Pakistani Ambassador to Afghanistan Obaid ur Rehman Nizamani has survived unscathed a gun attack on his life in Afghan capital Kabul, local TV channel Tolo News TV reported Friday.
A security guard of the Pakistani embassy was injured in a gunfire by unknown armed men at the entrance of the embassy, the TV channel said on social media. (Afghanistan-Pakistan-Attack)
